Underground drilling on Zone 20 at the LaRonde mine in northwestern Quebec continues to yield encouraging results for Agnico-Eagle Mines (TSE).
Hole 20-103, drilled 200 ft. below a previous high-grade intersection, hit both the south and north massive sulphide lenses within the zone. The two lenses returned 0.49 oz. gold per ton (cut) over 25 ft. and 0.14 oz. over 9.8 ft., respectively. The south lens also yielded 2.6 oz. silver, 0.45% copper and 3.72% zinc.
“The latest results confirm that this is the most significant discovery made on the LaRonde property since the original orebody was discovered in 1964,” says President Paul Penna.
Zone 20 lies 3,000 ft. east of the main mine shaft and the two lenses are about 200 ft. apart.
The 15 holes completed on the zone to date have been drilled at 400-ft. spacings.
