Lance Tigert, a former Noranda executive and board member with several junior mining companies, has died. He was 63.
Tigert graduated in 1965 from the University of Toronto with a degree in mining engineering. Two years later, he finished his masters of business administration at U of T and went to work for Noranda, where he held numerous positions, eventually retiring as senior vice-president of corporate development in 2002.
At the time of his death, he was a director of Yamana Gold, Anvil Mining, Olympus Pacific Minerals, and Hornby Bay Explorations.
Tigert was also active in the Toronto branch of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum, where he served as executive committee chairman in 1992.
In 1998, Tigert was honoured with a CIM Fellowship, given to members who have distinguished themselves through outstanding contributions.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Mary Lou, two sons, Blaine and Bryce, and one grandchild, Lauren.
