Preliminary drilling along the Realito structural zone has discovered a new mineralized gold breccia structure in the Golfo de Oro area, within Sonora state, Mexico.
Laminco Resources (TSE) is in the midst of exploring the 150-sq.-mile property, which lies in the San Antonio district.
In addition to carrying out geological mapping, prospecting and geochemical sampling, Laminco is testing gold and copper targets with both reverse-circulation and diamond drilling. Work to date centres on an area of the property measuring 5 sq. miles.
The Realito zone is an east-west-trending structural zone traced over a distance of 3,500 ft. Drilling in the Golfo de Oro area intersected several structurally controlled, mineralized sections, including 150 ft. of 0.051 oz. gold per ton for hole RC-123 and 150 ft. of 0.098 oz. for RC-124.
The gold mineralization occurs in brecciated, sedimentary rocks at the intersections of prominent sets of faults. Laminco suggests the Golfo de Oro area is geologically similar to the Central California zone, where drill-indicated reserves stand at 6.9 million tons averaging 0.051 oz.
The Golfo de Oro area is 1,800 ft. east of El Tigre, where drilling has encountered a near-surface copper zone. Assay results included 265 ft. of 0.18% copper (including an interval grading 0.42% copper over 66 ft.) for hole C-7 and 361 ft. of 0.31% copper (including 0.58% copper over 116 ft.) for C-8.
