Lakehead to study amethyst at Panorama

Color, grades and other facets of the Panorama amethyst mine at Thunder Bay, Ont., will be studied by Lakehead University over a 3-year period. The study, which includes gemstone marketing, involves Ontario’s Ministry of Northern Development and Mines, the federal Department of Energy, Mines and Resources and Panorama’s owner, Precious Purple Gemstones Ltd.

The cost of the experiments, estimated at $95,000, will be shared by the Northern Ontario Development Agreement and Panorama.
