LAC Minerals (TSE) will close its exploration office in Kirkland Lake, Ont., on April 15, affecting 12 employees. At least four of them will be offered relocation within the company. LAC’s operations office in Kirkland Lake will remain open. LAC is presently “reorganizing and refocusing its exploration efforts,” says John Pearson, manager of investment relations, and no longer requires an exploration office in the Kirkland Lake area. LAC maintains an office in Malartic, Que., and with the purchase of a controlling interest in Bond Gold Canada (TSE) last fall, also has access to an office in Thunder Bay, Ont.
