Lac buys copper treatment plant

Compania Minera San Jose, a wholly owned subsidiary of Lac Minerals (TSE), is paying US$22 million for a 33.3% equity interest in Refimet S.A., a Santiago-based company which owns and operates a copper treatment plant in Chile.

Copper concentrates from Lac’s 83%-owned gold-copper-silver El Indio mine are currently shipped to Refimet’s plant for treatment.

Lac believes the investment will help secure treatment facilities for its copper concentrates.
