Joint-venture partners CanAlaska Resources (VSE), International FreeGold Mineral Development (VSE) and First Labrador Ventures (VSE) have located massive sulphide mineralization on their ground 35 km northeast of Nain in Labrador.
A single sample of talus material returned values of 0.51% nickel, 1.09% copper and 0.039% cobalt. The companies believe the talus originated from bedrock up-slope from where the sample was found. Follow-up work will attempt to locate the source of the mineralization.
Meanwhile, assay results are available from CanAlaska’s VBE-1 property where Columbia Yukon Resources (ASE) is earning a half interest. The joint venture previously announced it had located disseminated and bleb-type pyrite, pyrrhotite and chalcopyrite mineralization within anorthosite bedrock.
Assay values ranged from 0.037% to 0.81% for nickel, 0.29% to 0.52% for copper and 0.037% to 0.098% for cobalt. The partners’ preliminary interpretation indicates the mineralization may represent leakage from a deeper source. Airborne geophysical surveys have been completed over the properties, and interpretations are expected shortly.
