Drilling is continuing on La Rock Mining’s (VSE) Brandywine property, 25 miles north of Squamish, B.C. To date, assays results have been reported from 15 holes in what is expected to be a 23-hole program of diamond drilling on the DP zone.
The work is confined to an area comprising more than 200 sq. ft.
Using data from drill programs carried out this year and in the two preceding years, La Rock’s consulting geologist, Wilson Gewargis, developed a preliminary geological model of the DP zone.
Mineralization is reported to occur within a series of parallel, flat-lying shear zones, trending north-south and plunging to the east. The host rock is a fine-grained, brecciated volcanic with fracture-filled, disseminated sulphides.
Although the first four holes of this year’s program were drilled at angles, the remaining holes, from 95-5 onward, were drilled at 90!.
Hole 95-15, the most recent hole, intersected mineralized intervals over a 40-ft. section from a depth of 93 to 133 ft. averaging 0.27 oz. gold per ton. At a depth of 287 to 296 ft., a 9-ft. section of core averaged an impressive 6.18 oz.
La Rock’s president, Robert Lee, says that once all drilling data are in, the company hopes to develop a more precise geological model of the area and resume a second phase of deeper drilling to test the high-grade zone identified in hole 95-15.
Other results include: 60 ft. averaging 0.38 oz. for hole 95-14; 35 ft. averaging 1.36 oz. plus 40 ft. of 0.3 oz. for 95-13; 25 ft. averaging 0.59 oz. plus 15 ft. of 1.02 oz. for 95-12; and 102 ft. averaging 0.85 oz. for 95-6.
