Diamond drilling began recently at the southeast section of La Fosse Platinum’s (TSE) Blue Lake sulphide deposit north of Schefferville, Que., The Northern Miner has learned.
So far, the company has partially tested three kilometres along the structure, which is known to strike for 18 km across the company’s ground.
A series of vertical drill holes at 300-ft collar intervals will test an area where three massive sulphide deposits carrying nickel, copper and associated platinum, were outlined in 1987, La Fosse says.
At each point where the hole cuts economic sulphides, La Fosse will establish a detailed drill grid to determine tonnage.
When the first fence of drill holes tested along 2,100 ft., the company says five out of six holes cut one or more massive sulphide intercepts with copper and nickel minerals, ranging in thickness from 4-40 ft.
Chip samples taken from a decline ramp recently assayed at 1.27% copper, 0.46% copper, 0.72% nickel, 0.006 oz platinum and 0.023 oz palladium per tonne.
However, La Fosse has been unable to establish continuity of mineralization between adjacent drill holes and a parallel fence of diamond drill holes has been started 1,000-ft to the southeast.
