Preliminary exploration work has started at Kootenay King Resources’ Erie Creek gold prospect near Salmo, B.C.
The company completed part of a $37,000 Stage 1 program, consisting of line cutting and geochemical sampling that returned values of up to 0.017 oz gold per ton. Further work is planned in the spring.
Depending on results, the Stage 2 program will consist of trenching, road construction and 2,000 ft of diamond drilling, estimated to cost $102,000.
Drilling by operators in the 1970s encountered 276 ft of sulphide mineralization that included 97 ft of 1.2 oz silver. Veins in shear zones have been sampled with values up to 7.8 oz silver and 0.45 oz gold. Former operators did not evaluate the property for its gold potential.
