Knight Resources cuts more nickel at West Raglan

Vancouver–Harvey Keats-led Knight Resources(KNP-V) has tabled more encouraging results from its West Raglan nickel-copper-cobalt-PGM project in Northern Quebec.

The junior tabled results for holes WR-06, 07, 09, 15, 16, 17 and 18. All of the mineralization encountered occurs in, or immediately adjacent to ultramafic rocks believed to represent the Raglan Horizon near the base of the Chukotat Formation.

Situated in the Cape Smith belt, an early Proterozoic-aged fold and thrust belt that runs east-west across the Ungava Peninsula, the area has been an exploration hot spot since Canadian Royalties (CZZ-V) reported significant nickel-copper-platinum-palladium mineralization at the Mesamax prospect back in 2002.

Knight Resources is earning a 49% interest in the West Raglan project from Anglo American (AAUK-Q). The 720 sq. km project, located in northern Quebec, covers 70 km of the interpreted western extension of the Raglan Horizon, which hosts the deposits at Falconbridge’s Raglan Mine.

Assays from holes WR-09, 15, 16 and 17 are reported below:

  • WR-09 cut 6.95 metres averaging 1.05% nickel, 0.92% copper, 0.03% cobalt, 0.27 gram platinum and 0.92 gram palladium. This included a 3.95 metre interval that averaged 1.35% nickel, 0.78% copper, 0.04% cobalt, 0.43 gram platinum and 1.47 grams palladium. This was followed by a 3-metre interval that averaged 3.69% nickel, 0.86% copper, 0.07% cobalt, 0.36 platinum and 2.28 palladium. This included a 2.3-metre section that averaged 4.29% nickel, 0.88% copper, 0.08% cobalt, 0.37 gram platinum and 2.54 grams palladium.
  • Hole WR-15 cut 2.70-metres averaging 2.00% nickel, 0.99% copper, 0.05% cobalt, 0.29 gram platinum and 1.75 grams palladium. This included a 1.70-metre interval that averaged 2.66% nickel, 1.04% copper, 0.07% cobalt, 0.48 gram platinum and 2.27 grams palladium.
  • Hole WR-16 cut 0.80 metres averaging 7.15% nickel, 3.56% copper, 0.16% cobalt, 1.21 grams platinum and 2.99 grams palladium. This was followed by a 5.12-metre section that averaged 4.16% nickel 1.64% copper, 0.09% cobalt, 0.60 gram platinum and 2.48 grams palladium. Included in this interval was a 0.67-metre section that averaged 11.83% nickel, 2.03% copper, 0.23% cobalt, 0.91 gram platinum and 5.60 grams palladium.
  • Hole WR-17 cut 4.20 metres averaging 2.85% nickel, 1.30% copper, 0.07% cobalt, 0.61 gram platinum and 2.03 grams palladium. This included a 1.20-metre section that averaged 3.88% nickel, 1.89% copper, 0.09% cobalt, 0.92 gram platinum and 2.28 gram palladium. Another 4.20 metre interval assayed 1.30% nickel, 0.65% copper, 0.03% cobalt, 0.25 gram platinum and 1.08 grams palladium.

This year the partners drilled a total of 18 holes on the property, 16 of which were drilled in the Frontier area located about 7 km west of Lac Chukotat. The Frontier area measures 3 km east-west by 1 km north-south, has been divided into four zones: Frontier East, Frontier Central, Frontier West and Frontier South. Frontier Central is located approximately 650 metres east of Frontier West. Frontier East is situated 1.1 km east of Frontier Central and Frontier South is approximately 350 metres south of Frontier West.
