Vancouver — Drilling by
The Carotare discovery is 2 km west of the Carmen deposit, the most advanced target on the past-producing property.
Three of the first four holes drilled at Carotare intersected two zones with a combined width of at least 34 metres. The two latest holes returned 20 metres of 0.59 gram gold and 146 grams silver per tonne (2.21 grams gold-equivalent), and 16 metres of 0.82 gram gold and 124 grams silver (2.28 gram gold-equivalent).
The previously reported discovery hole intersected 14 metres grading 1.39 grams gold-equivalent and 10 metres of 3.13 grams gold-equivalent. Results from five other holes are pending.
Kimber notes that with a length of 1,300 metres, the surface expression of the Carotare zone is already more than twice the size of the Carmen deposit. Mapping and sampling are determining its full extent.
Drilling is also testing the Cob and Cocos structures on the eastern side of the Carmen deposit. The best result to date was an 8-metre interval grading 5.74 grams gold and 516 grams silver.
Kimber aims to develop at least 1 million oz. gold-equivalent that are amenable to open-pit mining at Monterde. The property hosts a measured and indicated resource of 11.2 million tonnes averaging 0.92 gram gold and 75 grams silver (plus additional inferred resources), which includes a higher-grade block of 5.1 million tonnes grading 1.75 grams gold and 91 grams silver.
