The KEGS Foundation has awarded scholarships totaling $7,500 to nine undergraduate in geophysics at five Canadian universities.
Recipients include the following: Michael Ash, Michael Wheeler and Olabusola Koyi of Memorial University; Eileen Blackmore and Nicole Jacques of the University of Western Ontario; Jamin Cristall and Scott Napier of the University of British Columbia; Victor Terlaky of McMaster University; and John Evangelatos of McGill University.
Blackmore, who will be returning to Western following a work term with Fugro Airborne Surveys and De Beers Canada, is the second recipient of the Limion scholarship (established in 2000 in honour of Heikki Limion, a noted Canadian geophysicist).
This is the third year of scholarship awards by the KEGS Foundation, which was established in 1999 by the Canadian Exploration Geophysical Society (KEGS) to support geophysical education in Canada.
The scholarships, which range from $500 to $1000, depending on merit and need, are made possible by the generous support of the geophysical and exploration community across Canada.
