Kalahari active in Silver Bell Morenci Grange finds local interest in Wenatchee

Buoyed by improved prices for base metals, Kalahari Resources (KLA-V) is planning a program of summer drilling designed to test a newly assembled land package in the world-famous Silver Bell Morenci mineral trend. The trend runs from Nevada through Arizona.

The 5,000-ft. reverse-circulation effort will follow-up recent geochemical and geophysical surveys. The drilling is being managed by Jack Frost, a former president of Exxon Minerals International (a division of oil giant Exxon).

Kalahari’s San Juan project comprises the Caprock, Northside and Milligan claims. These cover five strong airborne geophysical anomalies, which will be combined with the results of soil sampling in order to select drill targets. The Silver Bell Morenci trend hosted several porphry copper deposits that later became mines.

Negative sentiment towards gold has forced Grange Gold (GEG-V) to examine other options to recover value from its mining properties in the Wenatchee area of Washington state.

The company’s subsidiary, Lovitt Mining, had attempted to seek buyers for the gold exploration properties; however, interest dried up during the past two years. The company remains optimistic it will realize value for these assets once gold prices improve.

In the meantime, a local cement company has expressed interest in a portion of the property with potential to host a sand and gravel operation. Based on a recent engineering report, this portion of the property shows a sand and gravel thickness of 100 ft. or more. The quantity is estimated to be 2.4 million cubic yards.
