Joutel starts drill program for Cuban gold properties

Drilling is under way on the first of seven drill projects in Cuba owned by Joutel Resources (TSE). The program represents 70 holes and 12,300 metres of drilling.

In October, drilling wound down on the Vega Grande volcanogenic massive sulphide project, which includes a zone with a resource of 800,000 tons grading 1% copper.

Drilling of the Barita zone, an epithermal gold-silver deposit with a known resource of 476,810 oz. gold and 1.83 million oz. silver, is now under way.

The Tres Antena epithermal gold-silver project will be drilled this month. Past assays on the property ranged up to 0.76 oz. gold per ton. Next in line will be the Cobre epithermal gold-silver project, which consists of several geophysical and geological gold and silver targets, followed closely by La Purisima, an epithermal gold-silver prospect where surface samples range from 0.03 to 12 oz. gold.

The first project to be drilled in 1996 will be the Vista de Principe epithermal gold-silver project, where surface sampling of boulders assayed between 0.04 and 3.17 oz. gold per ton. This will be followed, in February, by drilling of the Los Pasos VMS and copper-zinc prospect.
