James named director of troubled Campeau

Within weeks of his appointment as president and chief executive officer at Denison Mines (TSE), Bill James has been named a director of Campeau Corp., a beleaguered real estate development company. James, who as chairman of Falconbridge, guided the nickel producer back to financial stability before it was acquired by Noranda (TSE) and Trelleborg AB, succeeds Robert Butler as an independent director of Campeau. Butler retired Jan. 11.

James sits on the board of a number of Canadian corporations and institutions, including Air Canada, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, The Mutual Life Assurance Co. of Canada, Fishery Products International and St. Michael’s Hospital.
