JAG strikes gold in Temiscaming

A vein structure bearing high-grade gold has been identified on JAG Mines’ (ME) Belleterre property northeast of Temiscaming, Que.

Situated 400 metres south of the Aubelle No.1 vein, within Guillet Twp., the structure consists of a 1.2-to-1.8-metre-wide quartz vein enclosed in a sericite-chlorite schist. The vein and schist contain up to 50% pyrite plus variable amounts of chalcopyrite, sphalerite and galena.

The zone was excavated for more than 50 metres and followed on the surface for more than 100 metres. Samples returned values of up to 425 grams gold and 218 grams silver per tonne.

The company believes the new zone may correspond to an eastern extension of the Aubelle No.2 vein, 500 metres to the west. A hole drilled into the No.2 vein in 1947 yielded 6.69 grams gold over 10.2 metres.
