Jacobina resource increases

After a year-end reassessment at the Jacobina gold mine in Bahia state, Brazil, Desert Sun Mining (DSM-T, DEZ-X) has seen a significant increase in resources that offers the possibility of expanded production.

The increase in resources came in the form of conversions from inferred to indicated resources, and as increases in inferred resources from new exploration drilling.

The measured and indicated resource at the Joao Belo deposit, currently being mined, is now 13.7 million tonnes grading 2.3 grams gold per tonne. At Morro do Vento, where development is underway, the measured and indicated resource has risen to 10.6 million tonnes at 2.7 grams gold per tonne, in three separate zones.

There are also new measured and indicated resources at Canavieiras, Serra do Corrego and Joao Belo Sul.

Inferred resources have increased to 33.6 million tonnes grading 2.8 grams gold per tonne from 22.2 million tonnes grading 2.6 grams last year. The most significant increases were at Joao Belo and Canavieiras.
