JA’s 1989 Business Hall of Fame nominees

Among the six is the late mining magnate and financier Stephen B. Roman (1921-1988), who arrived in Canada as a 16-year-old farmer from his native Slovakia. He parlayed prudent investments into a multi-billion dollar mining and industrial empire, with Denison Mines and Roman Corp. at the apex.

The inductees were announced by J. Trevor Eyton, president and chief executive officer of Brascan Ltd., who is chairman of the 11th annual hall of fame. The official induction ceremonies and banquet will take place on April 6 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
