INSIDER TRADING — Thunderwood trio pads holdings

A trio of top managers at Thunderwood Resources (TSE) recently took a large share position in the junior explorer.

According to the Ontario Securities Commission’s OSC Bulletin, Chairman James Gill bought 1.1 million shares privately at 35 cents to hold 1.5 million. Joining him on the buy side were officers Peter McCarter, who acquired 330,827 shares to hold 431,736, and Howard Stockford, who bought 330,827 privately to hold 453,649.

Thunderwood has several exploration projects on the go, including the Scott Lake base metal project near Chibougamau, Que., the Jones Hill copper-zinc deposit in New Mexico and a diamond exploration program in the Northwest Territories.

The Jones Hill and diamond projects are joint ventures with Aur Resources, of which Gill, McCarter and Stockford are also executives.

Other transactions completed after December, 1991, include:

Agnico-Eagle Mines (TSE) — Mentor Exploration and Development, holder of more than 10%, bought 5,200 shares at $5 and sold 1.24 million at $5.63-5.87 to hold 1.39 million.

Bema Gold (TSE) — Clive Johnson, officer, sold 350,000 at 78 cents, then bought 300,000 privately at 75 cents and 2,500 on the market at 66-68 cents to hold 520,920.

Canhorn Mining (TSE) — Herman Becker-Fluegel, director, exercised 40,000 options at 50 cents and sold 5,000 shares at $3.20. He then bought 4,000 shares at $1.60 to hold 39,000.

Consolidated Ramrod Gold (TSE) — John Stypula, director, bought 26,100 privately at $3.83 to hold 438,110.

Corner Bay Minerals (TSE) — Terry Flanagan, officer, bought 170,000 privately at 27.5 cents to hold 358,886 directly and 131,037 indirectly. Glamis Gold (TSE) — James Billingsley, officer, exercised 100,000 options at $3.80 and sold 100,000 at $5 to hold none.

Golden Star Resources (TSE) — Robert Friedland, director, sold 500,000 privately at $7.50 to hold 1.23 million indirectly and 226,373 directly. Hillsborough Resources (TSE) — Alan Smith, director, bought 1.39 million at $1.90-2.18 to hold 1.39 million indirectly.

Joutel Resources (TSE) — A group of six officers and directors each exercised 50,000-150,000 options at 13 cents and sold varying amounts of shares at 18-31 cents. Of the six, Roderick Chisholm, Richard Nemis and Susan Smith sold all their holdings.

Queenstake Resources (TSE) — Gordon Gutrath, officer, exercised 50,000 options at $1.30 and sold 130,000 shares at $2.13-3.60.
