INSIDER TRADING — Officers of Inco opt to cash in

Several senior officers of Inco (TSE), together with other insiders, exercised options and sold company shares during August.

According to the Ontario Securities Commission’s OSC Bulletin, Lorne Ames, senior officer, exercised options and acquired 9,000 shares at US$30 and sold 9,000 shares at $49.75-$50.38 to hold 128 shares. David Anderson, deemed an insider, exercised options and acquired 4,000 shares at US$25 and sold 4,000 shares at US$35.13 to hold 93 shares. Allan Bale, another insider, exercised options and acquired 19,200 shares at US$23.07-US$31.50 and sold 19,200 shares at US$34.31-US$36.40 to hold 101 shares. Claudio Barsotti, senior officer, exercised options and acquired 13,054 shares at US$25-US$30.44 and sold 7,052 shares at US$46.75 to hold 10,035 shares. Finally, Malcolm Bell, senior officer, exercised options and acquired 3,264 shares at US$25-US$27.44 and sold 3,387 shares at $48.75-$48.88 to hold 1,603 shares. Other transactions reported for August include:

* Cominco (TSE) — Michael Longinotti, senior officer, exercised options and sold 3,000 options at US$20 to hold 5,000 options.

* Glimmer Resources (VSE) — George Kent, director and senior officer, sold 40,000 shares at $1.45 to hold 1.7 million shares.

* Hillsborough Resources (TSE) — Udo Vov Doehren, director and senior officer, bought 10,000 shares at $2.15-$2.16 to hold 30,000 shares.

* Kinross Gold (TSE) — David Comba, director of an affiliate, sold 1,624 shares at $11.50 and 62 warrants at $8.13 to hold no shares or warrants. Shelley Riley, senior officer, exercised options and bought 5,000 shares at $1.40 and sold 5,000 shares at $11.50 to hold no shares and 46,667 options.

* Madsen Gold (TSE) — James Morlock, a director and senior officer who holds more than 10% of the securities, bought 2,500 shares at $1.67-$1.70 to hold just over 2 million shares.

* MSV Resources (TSE) — Societe de development de la Baie James, which owns more than 10% of the company, bought 750,000 shares by way of a call option and sold 750,000 shares at $2.02-$2.15 to hold 1.5 million shares.
