INSIDER TRADING (May 04, 1992)

TVX Gold (TSE) directors Glenn Ives and Nigel Lees recently sold a portion of their holdings in the Toronto-based gold miner.

According to the Ontario Securities Commission OSC Bulletin, Ives sold 2,500 shares for $3.55 to hold an undisclosed number. Lees sold 27,500 shares for $3.50 to hold 126,667 directly and indirectly. Since those transactions were completed in March, TVX shares have remained at the $3.50 level (and in a trading range of $2.85-4.85).

Other mining insiders who were active in the stock market recently include: Aber Resources (TSE) director Thatcher Townsend sold 39,100 shares for $1.20-1.47 to hold 187,360.

American Barrick Resources (TSE) director Howard Beck, who sold 60,000 shares for $32.50 to hold 226,372. Executive vice-president Gregg Wilkins sold 3,500 shares for $32.37 to hold 6,500 shares and 250,000 options.

Cameco (TSE) director Wolfgang Wolff sold 5,000 shares for $16 to close out his holdings.

Dayton Mining (TSE) director Paul Dircksen sold 5,000 shares for $3 to hold 44,800.

Faraday Resources (TSE) director Earl Connell sold 5,000 shares for $3.75 to hold 124,648.

Norman Keevil, chairman of Teck (TSE), which owns more than 10% of Golden Knight Resources (TSE), bought 2,000 shares of Golden Knight for $7.87 to hold the same number.

International Mahogany (TSE) officer Harvey Lim exercised an option on 15,000 shares at 45 cents which he then sold for 80 cents to hold none. Nova-Cogesco Resources (TSE) affiliate Orofino Resources (TSE), which owns more than 10%, bought 2.7 million shares of Nova-Cogesco for 25-36 cents to hold 2.8 million.

Spirit Lake Explorations (ME) officer Kenneth Murton acquired 45,000 shares under a plan for 71 cents to hold the same number.
