In an effort to accelerate drilling at the Akie massive sulphide project in northern British Columbia, Inmet Mining (TSE) is adding a second rig.
Inmet, which is earning a 60% interest in the project from Ecstall Mining (VSE), has released assay results from the first drill hole in this season’s program.
Hole 95-13 intersected 32.7 metres of massive and semi-massive pyrite-sphalerite-galena-barite mineralization interbedded with argillaceous sediments. The average grade of the interval (from 701.4 to 734.1 metres) is 5.56% zinc and 1.09% lead.
The intersection included 16.3 metres, from 713.6 to 729.9 metres, grading 6.82% zinc and 1.33% lead, or 6.6 metres, from 720.1 to 726.7 metres, grading 8.65% zinc and 1.49% lead.
Hole 95-13 was drilled to intersect the deposit 400 metres north of, and 200 metres downdip from, 94-12, the last hole drilled in 1994. Hole 94-12 intersected 40.4 metres grading 4.2% zinc, 0.9% lead and 9.7 grams silver per tonne, including a 9.3-metre section grading 8.5% zinc, 1.6% lead and 14.3 grams silver.
The dimensions of the deposit inferred from drilling to date measure about 1,400 metres on strike, 600 metres downdip and 20 metres in thickness. The deposit remains open at depth.
Currently, Hole 95-14 is testing the massive sulphide horizon 200 metres downdip from 94-12.
