Drilling on the Akie property in northern British Columbia is extending the depth of a zone of zinc-lead massive sulphide mineralization.
Inmet Mining (TSE), which has earned a 60% interest in the property from Ecstall Mining (VSE), reports that hole A-95-18 intersected 9.5 metres grading 7.72% zinc and 1.34% lead. This intersection includes a 2.2-metre interval grading 14.7% zinc and 1.75% lead.
The hole intersected the Akie deposit at a depth of 550 metres, about 325 metres north of, and 300 metres downdip from, hole A-94-12. The latter hole cut 7 metres of 10% combined zinc-lead.
At present, Inmet is drilling hole A-95-19, a stepout 400 metres north of hole A-95-18. Hole A-95-19 lies 200 metres north of, and 200 metres downdip from, A-95-13, which returned a 12.5-metre interval grading 6.8% zinc and 1.3% lead.
With a target depth of about 1,175 metres on A-95-19, Inmet expects to be drilling the hole until early November. It will resume work on the property in June, 1996.
Widely spaced drilling has intersected the Akie deposit over a strike length of 1,400 metres, a dip extent of 800 metres and a thickness of about 20 metres.
