Initial production figures have been released by Aur Resources (TSE) for its Louvicourt polymetallic mine, along with exploration results from the nearby AurBel gold property.
At Louvicourt, situated near Val d’Or, Que., “commercial” production of copper, zinc, silver and gold in concentrates was achieved on Jan. 1. For the first two months of this year, production amounted to 9.1 million lb. copper, 3.4 million lb. zinc, 74,453 oz. silver and 3,621 oz. gold from 140,000 tonnes of ore. The daily mining rate is 4,000 tonnes.
Metal recoveries averaged 96.2% for copper, 72.2% for zinc, 69.1% for silver and 72.9% for gold, all of which surpassed expectations.
Aur is the operator and a 30% owner of the mine; junior Novicourt (TSE) holds 45%; and Teck (TSE) controls the remainder.
At the AurBel property, surface drilling has led to the discovery of a new gold structure. Some of the better intersections from the Lac Herbin zone are 0.26 oz. gold per ton over 23.1 ft., 0.2 oz. over 24.5 ft. and 1.04 oz. over 3.5 ft. Lac Herbin has a 656-ft. strike length and remains open in all directions.
Other gold-bearing shears associated with the zone have been intersected, with values from the related shears assaying 0.52 oz. over 11.5 ft. and 0.66 oz. over 3.5 ft.
Aur will next attempt to outline a gold zone which hosts minable reserves of more than 1 million tons averaging 0.2 oz. A secondary exploration target will be large-tonnage, bulk-minable deposits.
