Industry needs to be assessed

The undertaking of a government-industry study on human resources in the mining industry was announced recently by the minister of employment and immigration, Bernard Valcourt. The 10-month review will focus on an assessment of human resources in the industry. Referring to the joint government-industry action, Valcourt said, “The partnership approach to ensuring that the industry will have the skilled labor it needs is the wave of the future.” Business and labor representatives, educational institutions and both levels of government will participate in the study.
