Junior Indo Pacific Resources (IPF-A) has identified six widely separated, gold-bearing targets at its Kavola prospect, in a rugged portion of Papua New Guinea.
All six targets are being tested by trenching, sampling and drilling.
A mineralized structure at least 20 metres wide was defined at the Koiba target, where previous drilling returned 1.2 grams gold per tonne across 20 metres and 1.7 grams across 21 metres (including 5.45 grams over 2.7 metres).
Three drill holes tested each end of the Peni Creek target, 800 metres south-southwest of Koiba. Although two holes returned no appreciable values, one returned values in the range of 0.1-1.6 grams. Additional holes will test the target, which is interpreted to have a greater vertical, rather than horizontal, extent.
Results are awaited from a hole testing the Kavola Junction target, and drilling is in progress at the fourth target, which lies 250 metres southeast of Kavola Junction.
The current program will also involve drill-testing of the Koibua South and Peni Creek South targets.
Elsewhere in the country, Indo Pacific has work programs under way at its Lake Kopiago and Ambunti licences. Target drilling will follow in late June.
