Inco puts out contract to eliminate mussels clogging water intake

Inco Ltd. has put out a contract to eliminate the millions of zebra mussels clogging water intake pipes at its Port Colborne refinery in Ontario. They interfere with regular operations at the plant. Roy Harrington, who co-ordinates the zebra mussel control program at the refinery, says it meets all environmental standards and is endorsed by the provincial Ministry of the Environment. Small doses of chlorine have kept the mussels temporarily under control.
