A $12-million expansion is under way at the main research and development laboratory of Inco (TSE) at Sheridan Park in Mississauga, Ont. First phase of the expansion will involve construction of a new mini- plant that will assist in the development of process improvements at Inco’s Canadian and Indonesian nickel-producing operations.
Inco’s vice-president responsible for research and technology development, Malcolm Bell, said the company is also increasing its research effort directed toward new value-added products, including forms of nickel powders and advanced materials such as nickel- coated fibres and particles.
The J. Roy Gordon Laboratory was built in 1965.
