A drill-indicated resource has been estimated for the Bibiani project in Ghana, West Africa.
The deposit, owned by Toronto-listed International Gold Resources (IGR), contains about 10.5 million tons averaging 0.092 oz. gold per ton to a depth of 300 ft. below surface. As well, tailings are believed to host an additional 8.3 million tons averaging 0.039 oz. per ton.
Total contained ounces are estimated at 1.3 million.
Three deep-core drill holes have confirmed the continuity of grade to a depth of at least 500 ft. This has led IGR’s consultants to define an inferred resource, between the 300- and 500-ft. levels, of 730,000 contained oz., bringing Bibiani’s total resource inventory to more than 2 million oz. Beginning in January, 30,000 ft. of core drilling will upgrade the resource to reserve status. This work will form part of a final feasibility study, expected by April, 1995.
In addition, metallurgical tests are under way and no difficulties are anticipated for the recovery of gold from oxide and sulphide ores.
