Stepout holes on the Hurdman Twp. joint venture property north of Timmins, Ont., have confirmed that the zinc-rich zone intersected in the first drill program (T.N.M., Jan. 20/92) of Noront Resources (VSE) extends northwest along strike for at least 1,350 ft.
Earning a 55% interest by spending $2 million on exploration during a 3-year period, Galico Resources (VSE) recently completed a 5-hole program on the property.
Significant intersections include 64 ft. at 1.24% zinc within a 1,100 ft. stepout hole and 35.3 ft. at 1.09% zinc within a 1,350 ft. stepout. Higher-grade zones within the intervals assayed up to 5.66% zinc. Noront says all five holes encountered zones of disseminated-to-massive sulphide carrying zinc, silver, copper and lead values and surrounded by strong alteration. The mineralization appears to be open to the northwest and downdip.
The next Hurdman program, is expected to begin in June.
