C. Mark Rebagliati, International Exploration Manager for Hunter Dickinson, has received the Robert M. Dreyer Award from the Society of Mining Metallurgy and Exploration (SME) for outstanding achievements in applied economic geology, including a number of significant deposit discoveries while leading the extraordinary HDI exploration team.
Mark received a degree in geological engineering from Michigan Technological University in 1969. Based in Vancouver, BC, he worked for a number of major companies years prior to establishing Rebagliati Geological Consulting in 1986. Associated with the Hunter Dickinson group of companies for the past 22 years, he has evaluated numerous properties and led the HDI team in its exploration efforts in Canada and around the world. This collaboration has resulted in a number of important discoveries, including porphyry copper-gold deposits such as Mt Milligan, Southern Star and Kemess South in British Columbia, Xietongmen and Newtongmen in China, the world class Pebble East deposit in Alaska and the Campo Morado volcanogenic massive sulphide deposits in Mexico. He has been recognized by the Association of Mineral Exploration BC for Excellence in Exploration with the HH Huestis Award in 1992, and by the Prospectors and Developers Association in 1997 with the Bill Dennis Prospector of the Year Award and again in 2007 as co-recipient of the Thayer Lindsley International Discovery Award.
