No economic gold values were assayed in core from an initial drill program completed by HSK Minerals on the company’s Vigrass Lake project near Kirkland Lake, Ont. The program was designed to follow up encouraging surface sampling which yielded assays up to 0.363 oz gold per ton across 5 ft.
On the north side of the lake, a 5-hole 2,000-ft program intersected a 50-ft wide fractured and altered zone carrying anomalous gold values over a strike length of 600 ft. On the south side of the lake, another 2,100 ft of drilling tested several geophysical conductors. Although a mineralized sedimentary unit was encountered, no economic gold values were assayed. A hole which intersected 390 ft of continuous sulphide mineralization, only returned anomalous gold, copper and zinc values across 240 ft of core.
A second phase of drilling is scheduled to begin during the second quarter of this year. This program will continue to test the anomalous gold zones. The company has also optioned five more claims south of the Vigrass property.
