A successful 10-hole drill program has been completed by High River Resources at Nor-Acme Mines’ former producing property near Snow Lake, Man.
The mine is being dewatered prior to continuing exploration below the bottom level of the old workings at 1,780 ft.
Recent drilling was confined to the Toots zone which lies at the western end of the main mine. The area drilled covered a strike length of 500 ft and a vertical distance from 100 ft below surface to 450 ft below surface.
Among the best holes was a 91 ft interception (true width of 83 ft) grading 0.19 oz gold per ton. Others gave 36 ft (25 ft true width) of 0.25 oz and 34 ft (26 ft true width) grading 0.2 oz.
Average grade was 0.162 oz, compared to the corresponding grade in the same area as indicated by drilling in the 1950s of 0.141 oz gold, director Brian Mountford explains. The average true width from the new program is 38.2 ft, compared to a 19.2 ft true width indicated by the 1950s drilling.
High River has an option from Nor-Acme Mines to earn a 60% interest by spending $6 million over four years on extensive underground exploration. During the period, High River must also complete a feasibility study and a mill facility capable of processing ore at a minimum rate of 650 tons per day.
