High grades from Gap zone

Ongoing drilling by Westmin Resources (TSE) is continuing to return high-grade results from the Gap zone discovery area on the Myra Falls mine property near Campbell River, B.C..T

The latest hole, 15-457, encountered high-grade mineralization 26 metres (85.3 ft.) east of section 12+60E, on an off-section hole designed to test continuity of grade and thickness between two wide-spaced sections. The hole returned a 9.2-metre (30.18-ft.) intersection grading 1.4 grams (0.041 oz.) gold and 237 grams (6.9 oz.) silver per tonne, 3.1% copper, 2.7% lead and 22.9% zinc.

It should be noted that this intersection was bounded by a fault contact above it, and the hole bottomed in mineralization with drill rods stuck. Westmin says if the hole cannot be deepened, the drill will be moved 60 metres (196.8 ft.) west to section 12+01E to test the western extension of the Gap zone.

So far, the grades being encountered in the Gap zone are significantly higher than the grades of ore typically being mined at the H-W and Lynx underground mines which make up the Myra Falls mining complex.

Westmin is currently carrying out development work aimed at reaching the Gap zone discovery area.
