High-grade gold at Noront’s Windfall

Noront Resources (NOT-V) has intersected high-grade gold near the surface at its Windfall property, 100 km east of Quvillon in the Abitibi region of Quebec.

Drilling of 11 holes was highlighted by hole 62, which cut 3.4 metres grading 48.5 grams gold per tonne at a down-hole depth of 30 metres. The interval began with a 1-metre intercept of 163 grams gold per tonne.

Hole 59, drilled 25 metres east and 44 metres north of hole 62, intersected up to 93.4 grams gold over 0.4 metre at a depth of 9.3 metres. Above this the hole cut 4.3 metres grading 12 grams gold. Both intersections are included in a 7.7-metre intercept grading 12.4 grams gold beginning at a depth of 3 metres.

These holes and two others were drilled vertically to intersect a flat-lying mineralized horizon. Gold mineralization is hosted by stacked, flat-lying veins.

One hole drilled with a 60 dip cut 1.25 metres grading 39.3 grams gold at 7 metres down-hole. This interval included a 0.95-metre intercept grading 46 grams gold per tonne.

Other highlights include 77 grams gold over 0.7 metre, included in a 3.9-metre interval of 14.7 grams gold, and 2.9 metres grading 30.9 grams gold, included in a 4.9-metre interval of 18.6 grams gold.

Four of the holes that cut high grades also cut less impressive intercepts of 1.1-7.8 grams gold over 2-13 metres. Five holes intersected 2.2-8.3 grams gold over 0.3-0.95 metre, while one hole failed to hit significant gold. Follow-up drilling of hole 59 is testing the structure to the east and north.

The 14.4-sq.-km Windfall Lake property consists of 90 contiguous mining claims, some of which are subject to a net smelter return royalty.
