Hemlo Gold, Steelworkers come to terms

A memorandum of agreement between Hemlo Gold Mines (TSE) and Local 9364 of the United Steelworkers of America was to have been voted on by the membership on Sept. 17.

The 223 members of the local have been on strike at Hemlo’s Golden Giant mine since June 17.

The underground mine, which produced 447,000 oz. gold in 1994, is Hemlo Gold’s core asset.

The operation is situated near Marathon, Ontario.
