Hemisphere tests lamproite pipe

Testing is under way on a 1,000-tonne bulk sample taken from the Leopold Downs lamproite pipe in western Australia by Vancouver-based Hemisphere Development (VSE).

Hemisphere, which is earning a 80% interest in the 155-sq.-km property from Capricorn Resources of Australia, says problems fine-tuning and assembling the heavy mineral separation unit delayed the testing program. A new crusher had to be added to the plant.

A spokesman for the company, citing a processing rate of 50 tonnes per day, said results of the program should be ready in a about a month, after magnetic separation and visual inspection at a lab near Perth, Australia, is complete.
