Formed three years ago, the Hedley Heritage, Arts & Crafts Society h as done a lot to promote the heritage of that small community in south-central B.C. Its history has been closely associated with the mining industry and will be again in the very near future.
Mascot Gold Mines is now developing what will become British Columbia’s largest primary gold producer at Hedley, proving that history really does repeat itself — even in mining. This year, the society completed the restoration work on the outside of the Log Barn and also finished the 1 904 Miner’s Cottage plus improvements to the Heritage House. But more work is required on that building including the installation of good flooring, better lighting and another washroom.
Donations (financial or material) would be greatly appreciated and new members are welcome. Annual single and family memberships are $5 and $10 respectively and life memberships are $30 and $50. The society’s address is: P.O. Box 218, Hedley, B.C. V0X 1K0.
