Hecla mine closure

In early 1995, Hecla Mining (NYSE) will phase out its gold mining operations in the Republic district of Washington state.

Exploration at the mine site during the past four years failed to extend reserves. The closure will take about 45 days and result in 87 lost jobs. A benefits package will be available, as will career placement services.
