Trading volume on the Commodity Exchange (Comex) of New York during the first eight months of 1993 surpassed the total trading volume for 1992.
The exchange says trading volume by the end of August exceeded 12.7 million contracts.
Comex also reports that trading volume in three individual contracts — gold and silver futures, and gold options — have exceeded their 1992 totals. The exchange set a single-day volume record for gold futures on Aug. 5; the previous record was set in January, 1990.
