Two recent holes drilled by Guyana Goldfields (GGFI-C) have intersected gold at the Peters mine property, a former producer situated in Guyana.
From surface, hole 18 returned 122 metres grading 1.41 grams gold per tonne (uncut), or 1.29 grams (cut to 30 grams). The top 20.6 metres averaged 4.49 grams uncut and 3.76 grams cut.
Hole 19 returned 3.17 grams uncut and 2.53 grams cut, from surface to a depth of 120 metres. Included in this is a section from 0-to-52 metres averaging 5.97 grams (uncut) and 4.61 grams (cut).
These results show that the mineralization outlined in a previous program extends to surface to form an oxidized zone amenable to open-pit mining methods, the company stated in a release.
Guyana Goldfields also drilled several reconnaissance holes in the current project. The first two encountered anomalous values, while the third hole returned no significant values. The fourth,
and most southerly hole, returned 0.82 gram gold from surface to 35.6 metres, where it was ended.
The company is continuing to explore the Mango trend, a 6.4-km-long gold-soil anomaly coincident with historical production from both oxide and primary ores.
