Guyana Gold succeeds at Aurora

Drilling by Guyana Goldfields (GUY-T) is intersecting significant gold on its Aurora property, 175 km west of Georgetown, Guyana.

So far this year, five holes have been drilled in the area known as Rory’s Knoll, including hole 22, which cut 149 metres grading 2.83 grams gold per tonne at a down-hole depth of 135 metres. This intersection includes a 14-metre intercept of 5.37 grams gold and a 113-metre interval of 3 grams gold.

Hole 23, drilled at a 60 angle, cut five 2-metre-wide intercepts grading 2.2-3.4 grams gold before cutting 104 metres of 1.2 grams gold at a down-hole depth of 180 metres. Within the 104-metre interval, 65 metres graded 1.6 grams gold and a 10-metre intercept graded 2 grams gold.

Hole 24 cut a 4.3-metre section grading 8 grams gold at 140 metres down-hole, then cut three 4-to-12-metre intercepts grading 1-4 grams gold before hitting a 129-metre interval, at a down hole depth of 285 metres, which graded 2.6 grams gold.

Two holes flattened from their original dips and were stopped before reaching their targets. Both holes were supposed to test mineralization below that found in Hole 17 (122 metres which graded 2.86 grams gold). One of these holes, No. 25, was drilled vertically and cut 10 metres grading 3 grams gold at a down-hole depth of 50 metres, followed by 64 metres grading 2.5 grams gold at 104 metres down-hole. The hole, which also cut 6 metres grading 1.65 grams gold at 180 metres, was abandoned at 203 metres.

Rory’s Knoll is still open at depth. Step-out holes will try to connect this area with the target known as East Walcott Hill.

Late last year, trenching at the East Walcott Hill area, 250 metres west of Rory’s Knoll, resulted in grades as high as 4.5 grams gold over 18 metres. In addition, a drill intercept 148 metres wide graded 1.6 grams gold per tonne, beginning at surface. Another hole cut 12 zones from 1-3 metres wide, grading 1.1-3.1 grams gold.

Two drills continue to test these targets.

Stream sediment and soil sampling are testing other targets, which were identified by an airborne geophysical survey. The geophysics suggests Rory’s Knoll is part of a regional structure that extends over several kilometres.

The company has increased its landholdings in the immediate area to cover 656 sq. km.
