Greenstone sued over the death of Colombian

A recent statement of claim in the Ontario court, general division, related to the death more than two years ago of a Colombian geologist who worked at the small Oronorte gold mine in Colombia, owned and managed by Greenstone Resources (TSE), is without merit, the Toronto-based company says.

eenstone is being sued for negligence by the wife and two daughters of the geologist, Jorge Villamil Montoya, who, the claim alleges, was kidnapped, along with three other mine employees, by guerrillas in Colombia. The claim says Villamil was murdered by the guerrillas; negotiations between Greenstone and the guerrillas led to the other three hostages being released. Total damages of $550,000 are being sought by the family.

The Oronorte mine is producing about 14,000 oz. gold annually.
