Having completed an airborne magnetic-electromagnetic survey on its Labrador claims, Greenshield Resources (CDN) is carrying out additional geophysical work in preparation for drilling.
The company holds a 100% interest in 1,502 claims and a 50% interest in 200 adjacent claims.
The land package comprises the Alexis River anorthosite, a 70-km-long, 6-to-8-km-wide, mafic-ultramafic intrusive rock sequence. Reconnaissance prospecting in the 1950s uncovered sulphide mineralization along the river, which assayed up to 0.85% copper, 0.42% nickel and 0.82% cobalt. These numbers were confirmed by Greenshield in 1995.
Surveys indicate the presence of more than 20 electromagnetic anomalies, many of which are associated with magnetic anomalies and thus characteristic of sulphide mineralization.
