Green light for Kodiak project

Construction can now begin on the Kodiak heap-leach gold project at Golden Bear mine in northwestern British Columbia.

North American Metals (VSE) received the required mine development certificate from the British Columbia government, and pre-production work will begin immediately.

Mine plans call for the mining, crushing and stacking of the 358,000-ton Kodiak A deposit from August to October, with leaching proceeding from October until May, 1995.

Kodiak A is expected to produce about 27,000 oz. in 1994 and a further 19,000 oz. in 1995 at a cash cost of about US$224 per oz.
