Great Basin drills Ivanhoe

Armed with $6.3 million in financing, Great Basin Gold (GBG-V) has begun testing its Ivanhoe property in Nevada’s Carlin Trend.

The target is bonanza-grade, gold-silver veins similar to those being mined at the nearby Ken Snyder mine, as well as carbonate-hosted gold deposits similar to the nearby Meikle orebody.

The Ivanhoe property hosts a near-surface gold resource that was mined in the early 1990s. Subsequent exploration tried to

locate Carlin-type deposits at depth.

Great Basin plans to drill 50,000 ft. to test underlying feeder zones. Geological modelling of relogged historic drill holes by Great Basin suggests the potential for a Ken Snyder-type bonanza-grade feeder system, the company says.
