Grant money to aid research

Almost half of the $2 million in research grants awarded for 1991-92 under the Research Agreements Program of Energy, Mines and Resources Canada (EMR) is earmarked for projects related to mining and minerals, EMR and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council announced in Ottawa.

The funding will support 217 projects at 36 universities and research centres across Canada. Of these, 122 projects will complement the work of the Geological Survey of Canada and 66 will contribute technological expertise to the work of Canada Centre for Mineral and Energy Technology (CANMET). Research related to mining and minerals will receive about 46% of the funds, earth sciences 42%, energy 7% and surveying 5%.
