Toronto-based Goldteck Mines (TSE) has pulled a high grade gold intersection while drilling at the Wilkinson Lake property in Beardmore, Ont., the company announced recently.
Hole No. 87-17 intersected 0.87 m grading 0.709 oz gold per ton over a depth of 34 m, Goldteck says. Previous drilling in the same area intersected 2.95 m grading 0.43 oz and 0.4 m of 0.54 oz.
The company is also awaiting assay results from drilling at the old Stairs property west of Matachewan, Ont., where 80 diamond drill holes were completed recently under a $2.7-million program.
The underground workings of the old mine were dewatered and rehabilitated to the 350-ft level before a mapping and sampling program was undertaken on the 200 and 350 levels, said President William Bergey.
“It appears that most of the ore was mined out in the vicinity of these workings,” he said. According to Bergey, sampling of remnants from the Pope Vein, confirms the high grade nature of the ore mined.
Assays from four accessible portions of the vein on the 350 level included 1.5 ft grading 0.92 oz , 2.5 ft of 0.74 oz and 1.7 ft of 3.39 oz.
Selected results, including some assays from the G-9 zone located 2,000 ft east of the 600-ft shaft, are as follows: Hole Width No. Zone (feet) Assay G-9 G-9 6.2 0.12
2.3 0.36 G-35 15 0.12 G-40 2.6 5.53 G-43 5.0 0.14 G-58 7.0 0.04 G-50 “B” 4.6 0.20 G-46 “C” 5.0 0.19
Surface drilling designed to test the Pope vein below the shaft is currently in progress, the company says.
