A 6,000-ft diamond drilling program is expected to start on the Federal Kirkland gold property controlled by Goldhunter Explorations. Located near Kirkland Lake, Ont., the seven claim property adjoins the northern boundary of both the Sylvanite and Toburn mines, two former producers in the Kirkland Lake camp.
Funding for the program is being provided by Gunner Gold Inc., a Calgary-based company which has the right to earn a 50% interest in the property. Gunner must spend $100,000 on the property before Feb. 28, 1987. A total of $1 million must be spent before 1990, in order for Gunner to earn its interest.
A stripping and channel sampling program was completed by Goldhunter last summer. This work exposed an ore shoot striking for 75 ft and averaging 10.5 ft in width. Average assays are 0.25 oz gold per ton. Drilling will test several shear zones striking across the property.
